French

Chateau

This 10,000 square foot private residence is designed in the style of a French chateau using Marley Tudor brick and Indiana limestone. Leonard Masonry, who was also the contractor on last year's best residence, spent nearly one year creating this masonry masterpiece.

The most interesting feature of the home in an intricate basket weave pat tern featured on the front entryway, twin chimney stacks, east side, and southern exposure. The pattern consists of raised brick protruding in interconnecting diamonds. The pattern is centered behind the stone apuque, which surrounds the front door and stretches up and around a window above the door. The remainder of the exterior features a running bond brick pattern.

Other features of the home include even fireplaces, bonded brick or limestone arches around doors and architrave around windows, balcony balustrades, water table bands, and quoins.
