Scherer named Balboa president

Balboa Instruments has named Stephen J. Scherer president/COO. He has been with the Tustin, Calif.-based supplier of electronic spa and pool control systems for nearly 13 years. Scherer will help the firm continue its focus on increasing product quality while actively pursuing innovations for the backyard environment.
He joined Balboa as chief financial officer and vice president of administration. Six years later, he became executive vice president/ COO. An industry veteran, he served on the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals' Manufacturers Council for five years, with one year as chairman. He also chaired the Industry Leadership Conference for three years, and was on the NSPI/APSP Board of Directors for six years. He holds an MBA from University of Southern California and spent six years in public accounting before joining Balboa.
