Modest regional rate hikes - business currents

Despite a large jump in overall joblessness in October, regional unemployment rose moderately across the board. Technology-related woes continued to push the rate up in the West. In contrast, the Northeast settled in for its typical, seasonal 0.1 percent gain. Overall, 33 states saw unemployment levels rise in October.
The four states with the lowest jobless levels (3.1 percent or less) were North Dakota, Nebraska, South Dakota and Delaware.
