The U.S. Small Business Administration

* The U.S. Small Business Administration has named Alice Cunningham, co-owner of Olympic Hot Tub in Cunningham Seattle, the Small-Business Person of the Year for western Washington. Criteria used to select winners included staying power, sales growth, innovations and community-oriented projects.

Cunningham will be honored at a gala celebration in Seattle April 18. If named the state winner, she will compete for national honors, to be announced by President George W. Bush the week of May 6. Cunningham founded Olympic Hot Tub with her husband, Blair Osborn, in 1977. The Northwest's oldest spa and hot-tub company, Olympic employs 30 people in four locations.
