Call for Spa test results issued
Pool & Spa News, March 27, 2006
The California Energy Commission, in conjunction with APSP's IAF 6 Portable Spa Standard Committee, is working to make changes to the new energy-efficiency requirements for portable spas. The regulations went into effect Jan. 1. To find a more appropriate solution to Title 20, Section 16053, of the California Appliance Efficiency Regulations, the CEC is asking spa manufacturers to send recent portable spa test results to APSP's Carvin DiGiovanni, who will act as a clearinghouse for the information and liaison to CEC.

If the manufacturers can provide sufficient evidence of where and how their spas are failing because of discrepancies in the existing requirement, CEC said it is open to rethinking the standard's formula for energy consumption. The formula is 5([V.sup.2/3]). Test information submitted will be kept confidential and reported to CEC with strict anonymity. For more info, send e-mails to cdigiovanni@theapsp.org.
