Nextel offers nationwide Direct Connect

Prosales, July, 2003

Nextel's Direct Connect service, which allows users to communicate instantly between phones with the touch of a button, will be available as a nationwide service by the end of the summer. Direct Connect users will not only be able to communicate instantly with other Nextel subscribers within their market, but also can utilize the service from city to city and while traveling in other Nextel markets.

"Direct Connect is so heavily used in construction today, it's a natural evolution to take this to a broader geographic area," says Daryl Newman, vice president of construction for Nextel. "Every Direct Connect user we have today is going to benefit from Direct Connect nationwide."

Pricing for Nationwide Direct Connect service is available with a monthly fee or on a pay-as-you-go plan; customers do not pay extra for long distance.

The nationwide service will be available in 81 percent of Nextel's markets by the end of this month; remaining markets will have availability by the end of August. For more information, visit www.nextel.com.
