Maher Lumber celebrates 60th anniversary

Prosales, August, 2005

Maher Lumber Co. is celebrating 60 years of business this year. The building materials supplier first opened in 1945 as Franklin Park & Fuel Lumber.

Maher enters its 60th year with a revamped showroom and an expanded kitchen and bath department. It also has brought on a fulltime K&B designer, remodeled its corporate office, hired four inside salespeople, and increased its outside sales force from five to eight.

The baton also passes this year from second-generation president Ron Maher to Maher Lumber's current vice president, Kevin Prosser. Maher has future plans for both expansion and acquisition, initiating its Internet presence, and exploring installed sales.

Wood Dale, Ill.-based Maher Lumber had 2004 sales of $18 million.
