Water relief

Residential Architect, July, 2004 by Nigel F. Maynard

The sweeping lines of this copper tub evoke the forms of a traditional Han Dynasty cup, and that was precisely the intention of Chinese designer Robert Kuo. Manufactured by Portland, Ore.-based Ann Sacks, the 73-inch-by-43-inch handmade tub is made using the ancient repousse technique, which employs hammers and other shaping tools to raise decorative relief from sheet metal.
