Walter Moberg designed and patented the Modern Rumford wood-burning fireplace by combining 18th-century Rumford characteristics with today's larger hearth sizes and clean-air technology. The 21-inch-deep firebox boasts a 40-inch-tall opening that comes in standard widths of 36, 42, 48, and 54 inches; a steel smoke chamber helps ensure smoke-free rooms.
