Chisel - Product watch: keeping you on top of the latest tools and accessories

Tools of the Trade, Nov-Dec, 2003

Bridge City Tool Works' FC-1 flushing chisel is designed for cleaning glue from the inside corners of woodworking projects, and its wide, flat bottom and dual cutting surfaces allow it to make thin shearing cuts on wood surfaces without lifting the wood. According to the company, you can use the chisel to pre-score dowels, dovetails, tenons, and plugs before planing them, totally preventing tear out. The FC-1 is 4 1/4 inches long by 1 1/2 inches wide and weighs 6.4 ounces. The brass-and-rosewood handle unscrews for sharpening; the blade is hardened, cryogenically tempered, and lapped A-2 steel. Cost: $139. 800-253-3332. www.bridgecitytools.com. Circle #229.
