Saw blades - Product watch: keeping you on top of the latest tools and accessories

Tools of the Trade, Nov-Dec, 2003

Mforce 7 1/4-inch, 24-tooth saw blades from Makita feature an M-shaped tooth design: a beveled face and two 10-degree angles that shear wood for a faster cut. According to the company, each tooth tip has two cutting points, providing a clean finish normally associated with a 48-tooth blade. The blade has a thin-kerf design, a heat-hardened body, large expansion slots, and heat vents. Cost: $10. 800-462-5482. www.makitatools.com. Circle #230.

The TM-7 wet-cutting diamond blade's narrow 60-millimeter width makes it easier to slice through hard materials like porcelain tile, granite, glass, and more. According to Felker, the blade's thinner core and rim increase torque applied per square inch of surface area, so even low-horsepower saws can cut quickly through hard materials. Seven-, 8-, and 10-inch sizes are available. Cost: $93 to $129. 800-365-4003. www.felkersaws.com. Circle #231.
