Who says you can't have it all? Service providers that want to deliver a secure IP multi-service suite should not have to sacrifice network speed for security, argues Carrier Access. With the introduction of its Adit 3000 product series, Carrier Access combines the ability to support multiple emerging IP services as well as public and private security on one platform. Carriers can deliver the IP services their enterprise customers want, such as streaming and VoIP, all over an infrastructure that inspects every incoming packet to avoid security breaches. By integrating security onto the platform, customers no longer need to purchase and manage a standalone security platform. Better yet, the platform enables end users to effectively utilize their current infrastructure by converging existing voice lines onto their data networks.

The Adit 3000 portfolio consists of two components: the Adit 3402 multi-service router and the Adit 3104 IP Business Gateway. Ideal for a growing SMB, the Adit 3402 offers full Fast Ethernet throughput with security, stateful firewall, intrusion detection, NAT (network address translation), one to four T1s for WAN interfaces and supports up to 24 lines of voice service delivery. Without additional hardware, the Adit 3402 scales beyond a traditional T1 WAN port to a maximum of four ports. T1 ports can be bonded together to form a single logical circuit with an aggregate bandwidth of up to 6 Mbps. Then, the Adit 3104 IP Business Gateway incorporates VoIP capabilities with Ethernet-speed performance. It can support a single T1 or Fast Ethernet WAN port, four-port Ethernet switch, stateful firewall, intrusion detection, IPSec VPN with encryption and converts up to 24 lines of analog voice to VoIP. In addition, the 3104 creates a secure partition between external public network access, while enabling remote users to connect to their business sites. The Adit 3402 is available, while the 3104 will be available for customer evaluation this quarter.
