C9 Networks
As an alternative provider to the small-to mid-sized cable operators, Sunnyvale, Calif.-based C9 Networks is betting that a CMTS with built-in Wi-Fi capabilities will be a winning combination. The C9 C3000 is an advanced CMTS that supports both wired and wireless services with a management system built right into the box. By giving cable operators the ability to add wireless services as a product extension, the C3000 is an ideal solution for network integrators or cable operators that want to differentiate their service capabilities with wireless capabilities. The product can even benefit third-party hot spot providers, which can leverage the wide deployment of cable to offer new managed wireless services. Similar to its other offerings, the C3000 features a built-in subscriber management system and an intuitive user interface. As a self-contained system, the C3000 can simply be turned up without the need for expensive network upgrades. The C3000 supports 200 to 250 access points and 2,000 wireless users behind them. Further, it can support 40 Mbps of downstream and 10 Mbps to 40 Mbps upstream. The product is now available.
