Wireless: The 1-2 Punch; Technologies and services converge to make wireless the champ

According to figures released in mid-February by the U.S. Census Bureau, revenues for wireless service providers increased 17 percent, from $78 billion in 2001 to $91 billion in 2002. The increase occurred despite an overall 4-percent dip in revenues for the telecom industry. While the data isn't completely current, expect a similar trend for the coming year as wireless carriers up their offerings with advanced data services as well as incremental revenue generators such as ring tones and push-to-talk services.
