As more wireless operators move to offer IP-based services such as push-to-talk, Convedia is integrating Multimedia Resource Function (MRF) for 2.5G and 3G wireless networks into its media server platforms: the CMS-6000 and the compact CMS-1000. Both platforms provide the MRF media processing key to provide wireless voice services from push-to-talk, personalized ringback tones, unified messaging, speech-controlled services, and presence-enabled conferencing. During Q2 04, Convedia will introduce additional support for AMR (Adaptive Multi Rate) and EVRC (Enhanced Variable Rate Voice Coder), in addition to H.263 and MPEG-4 video mixing, transcoding, recording and playback. The product enhancement also has benefits for mobile application developers, who can integrate Convedia MRF capabilities into their solutions using SIP or other standards-based control protocols.
