Laurel Networks
Laurel is moving its ST2000 up the edge stack with its ShadeTree 3.0 service-enabling system software enhancement. Available now, ShadeTree 3.0 provides a high-performance LNS (L2TP network server) for service providers offering broadband IP services and LIVE (Laurel Instant Versioning), a run-time hitless software upgrade capability. In addition, version 3.0 supports the Lasserre-V Kompella draft VPLS (Virtual Private LAN Service), a method to extend transparent LAN services across a common MPLS backbone, including point-to-multipoint or bridged Ethernet service to existing point-to-point (pseudowire) Ethernet services. By taking advantage of the AnyService on AnyPort at AnySpeed feature of the ST200 platform, VPLS can be delivered over Ethernet, SONET, ATM or frame relay. Enabled on any card in the ST2000 platform, the Shadetree 3.0 software can scale to 128,000 sessions. LIVE enables service providers to perform in-service upgrades and diagnostics without interruption.
