Orthogon Systems
Orthogon Systems has announced availability of OS-Spectra, its next-generation wireless Ethernet bridge. The maker of point-to-point broadband wireless system says the product provides a secure link that enables service providers to connect separate networks for up to 125 miles, while supporting up to 300 Mbps of aggregate user throughput. The OS-Spectra operates in the unlicensed 5.8GHz band and is FCC and ETS certified. It supports a link availability of up to 99.9999 percent on long-range and line-of-sight and non line-of-sight environments, as well as over large bodies of water. The vendor says the bridge is a software-defined radio that provides service providers feature and performance upgrades via software downloads and is easy to install and manage. OS-Spectra is fully WiMAX-compatible and supports the WiMAX Management Information Base for end-to-end management. Its spectral efficiency enables it to provide a scalable WiMAX backhaul solution by backhauling the throughput requirements of 12 WiMAX base station sectors with the equivalent of only three WiMAX channels. The OS-Spectra employs an air interface that uses a proprietary data scrambling scheme as well as AES encryption for high levels of security. It acts as a transparent Ethernet bridge enabling customers to superimpose complete end-to-end network security offerings such as VPNs. The Orthogon system sports a range of interfaces for IP networks of all sizes, including 10/100/1000 Base-T and Fiber-Optic SX 1000. Dual T1/E1 interfaces are also available to enable the bundling of legacy PBX or cellular services with IP offerings on a single wireless connection. It's available with integrated or connectorized antennas through distributor and reseller channels worldwide.
