Laurel Networks has expanded its ST-series with the introduction of the ST50 Service Edge Router, which packs all the multiservice functionally of the high-capacity ST200 Service Edge Router in a smaller, lower-cost platform. Like the ST200, the ST50 combines Internet routing, Layer 2 switching, broadband subscriber management, high availability and integrated service management, while adding ST50 MiniPHY cards with enhanced levels of interface granularity. New ShadeTree[TM] 3.1 System Software (shared across the ST50 and ST200) adds non-stop sessions, IPv6 and LAC (L2TP access concentrator) functionality. The ST50 is intended for use in smaller remote POPs. All advanced ST200 services including robust Internet routing, scalable IPVPNs, Layer 2 switched services, high-performance BRAS functionality and triple play-capable QoS are available on the ST50 upon release. Like the ST200, the ST50 maintains wire speed with all services enabled on every port. The product is available.
