Lumentis delivers single-slot, single-card SONET/SDH system

Fiber Optics Weekly Update, March 21, 2003

Lumentis AB, a provider of optical metro platforms, announces successful customer network installations and operation of its MuxFeeder solution, a new add-drop and terminal SDH/ SONIET network solution over CWDM or DWDM wavelengths. The single-slot, single-card MuxFeeder is used in combination with other CWDM and DWDM plug-in units in the same 2slot or 16-slot chassis and the same fiber, making Lumentis' platform a future proof multi-transport solution for combining SDHISONET, SAN, and IP/GbE networks.

Within a compact size of just 220 x 230 x 25 mm resides a standards-compliant SDHISONET VC-4 switching system with G.703 standard physical interfaces, standard G.781 synchronization, standard G.8 13 jitter and wander, and performance monitoring according to G.826. With a line rate of STM-16/OC-48, each wavelength can carry a logical SDH/SONET point-to-point, bus, or ring network with STM-l/OC-3 and STM-4/OC-12 add-drops. Optional protection is provided through O-SNCP1 1 (Optical SubNetwork Connection Protection ).
