West Bay debuts SONET chips

Fiber Optics Weekly Update, Nov 22, 2002

West Bay Semiconductor Inc. introduced the WB1400 and the WB1510, two standard product channelized framers and pointer processors targeting low cost SONET/SDH Metropolitan Access telecommunications equipment applications. The WB1400 and WB1510 are highly integrated, low cost product offerings that allow West Bay to compete more effectively in the rapidly growing Metro Access market.

Target applications for the new devices include Digital Cross-Connects and Multi Service Provisioning Platforms (MSPPs), as well as Broadband Aggregator and Add-Drop Multiplexer equipment used to aggregate end user traffic transmitted over T1/E1/J1/DS3, wireless, DSL and other transmission pipes, into high speed network connections.
