Fiber Optics Weekly Update, May 30, 2003

Agility Communications Inc., a provider of widely tunable lasers, and Princeton Optronics Inc. have joined Bookham Technology, GTRAN Inc., Intel Corp., iolon Inc., QDI, Santur Corp. and Vitesse Semiconductor in supporting the Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF)-based OIF Compliant Tunable Laser Multi-Source Agreement (MSA).

The OIF Compliant Tunable Laser MSA Group was formed in March 2003. The OIF Compliant MSA offers telecommunication system vendors increased flexibility by enabling them to source components from more than one tunable laser manufacturer. It also allows companies to streamline product designs by setting standards for functionality, size and optical performance, resulting in faster time to market for tunable laser products and solutions. Technical specifications and a full list of all companies participating in the MSA can be viewed at http:// www.TunableLaserMSA.com.
