Spirent Communications introduces OC-768 SONET framing for next generation high speed optical networking systems

Fiber Optics Weekly Update, June 7, 2002

Spirent Communications offers the functional testing of SONET OC-768 and SDH STM-256. Spirent's OTA-4400 with SONET/SDH framing provides developers of 4OGig systems and subsystems the first tools necessary to speed the development and deployment of high-speed optical networks. With OC-768 SONET framing, Spirent's OTA-4400 is the first OC-768 enabled tester that includes generation and analysis of major alarms and errors including LOF, LOP, AIS-L, AIS-Pas well as B1, B2 and B3 errors. The OTA-4400 also allows designers and testers the ability to view and manipulate all other TOH/POH.

With the OTA-4400, Spirent now covers all 7 layers of the OSI stack, providing a complete performance analysis and service assurance solution to equipment manufacturers and network operators. The OTA-4400 provides the only integrated test platform especially for design and verification of emerging high-speed optical networking systems at up to 43.2Gbps. The OTA-4400 provides BER testing, SONET/SDH functional testing, and a platform capable of jitter conformance testing for 40Gbps electrical and optical devices.
