Vietnam Telecom International selects Digital Lightwave's Network Information Computer

Fiber Optics Weekly Update, June 4, 2004

On June 2, Digital Lightwave, Inc. a leading provider of optical networking technology and test instruments based in Clearwater, Florida, announced its first major contract award from Vietnam Telecom International (VTI) for portable test equipment. VTI chose Digital Lightwave to supply its Network Information Computer(R) (NIC) products for test, turn-up, and maintenance of Vietnam's SDH optical network deployment.

Digital Lightwave portable NICs are software-based, modular products combining multiple test functions into a single integrated solution, including OTN, SONET/SDH, T-carrier/PDH, ATM, Jitter Analysis, and Ethernet.

"Vietnam Telecom is our first major customer in Southeast Asia," said Michael Riddick, VP of Sales at Digital Lightwave. "We are beginning to see the results of increased sales channels that allow us to reach into parts of the world that weren't available to us in the past. Vietnam Telecom's selection of Digital Lightwave validates our strategy and direction for growing our presence in the global fiber optic test equipment market."

Digital Lightwave embarked upon a strategy to develop product for and sell into the international marketplace at the height of the telecommunications build-out in the United States. It began with the engineering design and development of international standards based technology into the popular NIC and Network Access Agent(R) (NAA(R)) products, including technologies such as SDH and Jitter. Continuing on that strategy, Digital Lightwave introduced products and features to test, monitor, and maintain Next Generation Network (NGN) deployment. NGN technology is being implemented domestically and throughout the world.
