AWR's Analog Office high-frequency design suite selected by Finisar

Fiber Optics Weekly Update, June 4, 2004

Applied Wave Research, Inc., a leading provider of high-frequency electronic design automation (EDA) tools, on June 1 announced a corporate agreement with Finisar Corporation for Finisar to purchase AWR's Analog Office(TM) 2004 design suite. Finisar's optics division will utilize the Analog Office software for the design of its industry-leading high-speed optical transceivers.

Finisar is a technology leader for fiber optic subsystems and network test and monitoring systems. The company's products enable high-speed data communications for networking and storage applications over gigabit Ethernet local area networks (LANs), fiber channel storage area networks (SANs), and metropolitan area networks (MANs) using fiber channel, internet protocol (IP), and SONET/SDH protocols.

"Finisar takes great pride in providing leading-edge products that exemplify our commitment to engineering excellence, product reliability, and customer value. The Analog Office open, integrated platform and unique RF-aware design methodology provide our engineers with the accurate RF modeling and analysis needed to design products that meet our exacting standards," said James Douma, transponder engineering manager at Finisar.

"Finisar's drive for technological excellence and product reliability aligns with AWR's focus on providing innovative design tools that help our customers provide the highest quality products with shorter, more efficient design cycles," said James Spoto, president and CEO of AWR. "Our relationship with Finisar will offer new challenges to refine and improve our technology by addressing the engineering requirements of the Finisar product development groups."
