Oluma launches Fiber-Optic Distributed Temperature Sensor for process industries

Fiber Optics Weekly Update, June 4, 2004

Oluma, Inc., the leading provider of Optical Sensing Solutions, is now shipping next-generation Fiber-Optic Distributed Temperature Sensors (DTS). Oluma's DTS can accurately sense temperature at every point along a stainless steel sheathed fiber with a resolution of 0.5[degrees]C and a spatial resolution of 1.5 meters. Mark Demos, Oluma's CEO, added, "The innovative design breaks price barriers that have previously limited deployment of DTS systems in many applications."

The fiber can range in length from 100 to 2000 meters, and can be coiled at specific points of interest. Fiber can be sheathed with non-conductive polymers for applications requiring intrinsic safety.

Oluma, Inc. is a successful, pre-IPO optical sensor company that designs, manufactures, and markets a suite of high-performance fiber optic products and systems based on Oluma's patented platform. Their core technologies allow rapid migration away from the limitations of performance-challenged sensors into powerful, integrated optical sensing solutions.
