Acome Compact Tube cables for Norman operator 'Altitude Telecom'

Fiber Optics Weekly Update, July 1, 2005

Acome will provide several hundred kilometers of optical cables for the construction of the wide area network of the Norman operator "Altitude Telecom," to provide, among other links, the connections between Low and High Normandy and the Paris area. These cables will be installed by Graniou (Vinci group) and STEN (Eiffage group).

This contract is a continuation of a major supply contract already carried out in 2004 in the department of the Eure, for a total approaching 1,000km of optical cables. These cables are from the Acome Compact Tube range, which was developed for ease of mid-span access and, thanks to their circular symmetry, for ease of pulling into ducts. They are particularly suitable for such networks where the operator wants to have fast connection facilities for new customers or switching centers. They are moreover extremely easy to blow on very long range (several registered records on continuous links of largely more than 10 km).
