Fiber Optics Weekly Update, July 18, 2003
Metrobility Optical Systems announced that it has completed interoperability testing with the Appian Communications Optical Services Activation Platform (OSAP) to offer a fully managed Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) fiber solution that extends from the smallest business establishment to the first central office of the service provider. Based on an advanced Ethernet switching and QoS architecture, the OSAP and STU deliver fully-managed, carrier-class Ethernet services that scale from 64kbps to 1Gbps in 1kbps increments.

Metrobility's Radiance Optical Ethernet System provides a set of operation, administration and maintenance (OAM) features for remote management, including line quality, troubleshooting and testing, and equipment health throughout the physical layer. These combined features enable service providers to not only enable the delivery, aggregation and grooming of legacy TDM and next generation Ethernet services to a carrier's services network, but also effectively monitor and troubleshoot remote optical Ethernet links to lower the cost of ownership while providing greater customer satisfaction. Because the Radiance system is both modular and scalable, it also supports Appian's scalable, pay as you grow service delivery architecture.
