Stratos Lightwave joins XFP industry association for the development of ultra-small 10 Gbps communications modules. . Module Group

Fiber Optics Weekly Update, July 19, 2002

Stratos Lightwave announced its inception into the 10-Gigabit Small Form-factor Pluggable (XFP) Module Group, a module Multi Source Agreement (MSA) association. The purpose of the group is to develop a vendor-independent specification for ultra-small form factor 10 Gbps communications modules. These hot-pluggable modules are intended for use in a wide-range of high-end applications in the telecommunications, data communications and storage area network (SAN) markets.

Stratos Lightwave's involvement with the XFP Group, and its eventual development of products compliant with XFP standards, is a logical extension of the company's ability to serve users of, and markets for, high-end optoelectronic communications technology. Current Stratos products and technologies include transceivers in a variety of form factors, parallel optical modules, advanced optical interconnect products and CWDM modules.
