Internet Photonics Inc. and Jedai Broadband Networks Inc. announced a partnership under which the two companies will work closely together to provide a complete end-to-end commercial services solution to cable operators. Combining two industry-leading families of products--Internet Photonics' LightStack family of Optical Ethernet multi-service switching and transport products and the Jedai FrontRunner 3200 Access Switch Router family--the companies will offer a complete solution enabling cable operators to build easy-to-manage networks that deliver voice and Ethernet data services to business customers.

For cable operators looking to new services to increase the profitability of their broadband infrastructure, the joint solution enables operators to offer a wide variety of new services such as transparent LAN/VLAN, Ethernet private line, ultra high-speed Internet access, T1 PBX tie-lines and telephone switch access to business customers over a common Ethernet access line. In addition, the solution provides operator-class management and integration built into the platforms, which ensures that business services offered by cable operators meet the robust management and service levels these customers demand.
To support this need, Internet Photonics' LightStack NCS provides end-to-end quality-of-service and management functionality for the joint solution--from premises through the hub to the headend. Capabilities include element and topology discovery, configuration management, point-and-click provisioning, alarm management, performance management, end-to-end SLA management and resiliency including sub 50 millisecond failover for voice services. Under the agreement, Internet Photonics is integrating Jedai's FrontRunner 3200 with its own LightStack optical Ethernet multi-service switching and transport products, LightHandler Wave Division Multiplexing (WDM) and optical amplification products, and LightStack Network Control System. The Jedai FrontRunner 3200 supports 10/ 100BaseT, 100BaseFX, T1/E1 and Gigabit Ethernet interfaces. The FrontRunner 3200 can be located at mid-size businesses, multi-tenant office buildings, and campuses and can leverage CWDM to connect to cable operator hubs via fiber in point-to-point, daisy-chain or ring architectures.
