Fiber Optics Weekly Update, August 6, 2004
Stratos Lightwave LLC is announcing the availability of rack-mount packaging options for its Tsunami brand of CWDM optical components and modules. Offered for both industry-standard 19-inch as well as LGX-compatible racks, these packaging options will make it easier for users of high-performance communications systems to integrate CWDM devices into existing installations.
In metro and access optical communication networks, CWDM products are often deployed alongside conventional optical transceivers, such as GBICs or SFPs, to increase the bandwidth of existing cable infrastructures. The extremely small size of CWDM components has typically required users to configure and assemble--for themselves--the necessary hardware to mount these compact subsystems into the standard racks. Stratos is now eliminating this issue with its new packaging options.
