Fiber Optics Weekly Update, Sept 13, 2002
Cable & Wireless, the global telecommunications group, announced a three-year global communications contract worth more than US$40 million with UBS Warburg, the global investment banking division of UBS AG. Cable & Wireless will provide global data, IP network and voice services. Cable & Wireless is one of UBS Warburg's preferred telecommunications suppliers globally. This agreement is in addition to an existing hosting contract with Cable & Wireless (through the acquisition of Digital Island in August 2001), and demonstrates Cable & Wireless' ability to provide a complete portfolio of integrated communications and e-commerce services for multi-national enterprise companies.

Cable & Wireless will provide a package of voice and data services, including ATM and frame relay networks, leased lines and internet access, to UBS Warburg's offices in some 20 countries located primarily in North America, Europe and Asia. Within the three-year agreement, UBS Warburg aims to migrate to a single converged communication solution, based on IP-VPN technology. The relationship with Cable & Wireless will support UBS in formulating that migration path.
