Modulight joins XFP MSA

Fiber Optics Weekly Update, Sept 13, 2002

Modulight Inc., an ISO 9001:2000 certified manufacturer of high-performance optical components for datacom and telecom applications, has joined the 10 Gigabit Small Form Factor Pluggable (XFP) Multi Source Agreement (MSA) Group. Modulight joins the group as "contributor" with an intention to support the work of MSA Group by providing module manufacturers with a direct connection to (sub)component supply-chain.

The goal of the MSA Group is to create a specification for a module, cage hardware, and IC interfaces for a 10 Gbps hot pluggable module converting serial electrical signals into external serial optical or electrical signals. The technology is intended to be flexible enough to support 0C192/STM-64, 10 G Fibre Channel, G. 709, and 10 G Ethernet, usually with the same module.
