North Carolina country club awards $3.7 million fiber-optic contract

Fiber Optics Weekly Update, Dec 31, 2004

EMATS Inc., (Energy Management) has been awarded a $3.7 million contract with Bright's Creek Golf Club to install 165,000 feet of pipeline and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) fiber-optic conduit for phase one of a multi-year project.

Bright's Creek is a 4,600-acre private resort community located in northwestern Polk County in North Carolina.

When completed, phase one of Bright's Creek will include 300 upscale houses. EMATS will install HDPE pipe, a product that reduces the number of water leaks in a system by using one continuous pipe instead of the standard fused pipes that tend to leak over time.

EMATS Inc., founded in 1998, is an energy management and related services company headquartered in Cedar Bluff, Virginia, with more than 200 employees at field offices throughout Virginia, West Virginia, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Texas, and North Carolina.

Bright's Creek is expected to be one of the leading residential developments in the country for building houses equipped to utilize the latest fiber-optic technology.
