The Baptist General Association of Virginia - News Notes - Brief Article
Baptist History and Heritage, Wntr, 2000
The Baptist General Association of Virginia voted in November 1999 to change its 169-year-old relationship with the University of Richmond by approving a plan to phase out financial support for the school and no longer nominate trustees to its board. Instead, Virginia Baptists will support a Center tot Baptist Heritage Studies, to be housed on the campus.
Fred Anderson will both head up the new center and continue his work as executive director of the Virginia Baptist Historical Society. The center will be governed by a serf-perpetuating board Of directors whose members will be nominated by the BGAV, the university, and the VBHS.
