Telefonica Moviles exceeds 50 million customer mark - International - Brief Article

The mobile operator of Spanish-based Telefonica surpassed the 50 million customers in service and is now the 5th largest mobile operator in the world. In the last three years Telefonica Moviles doubled its customer base and has grown from 21.8 million in 2000 to 29.8 million in 2001 and to 41.4 million in 2002.

The company aims to service 70 million customers in 2006. Telefonica Moviles, in addition to Spain, has operations in several Latin American countries including Brazil, Mexico and Argentina.
