WJ Communications announced that it has received two new production orders for its RFID reader engine products. One order is for the SX2000 reader engine which is now in full production. The second new order is the first production order for the SX2030, which operates in the worldwide 2.4GHz band. Each model in WJ's family of compact RFID reader/programmer engines reads and programs EPC Class 1 RFID tags. Deliveries against these orders are scheduled to commence in first quarter, 2004.

These high-performance, low-cost and small size reader engines--about the size of a PCMCIA card--include the RF and electronic circuitry required to read and program EPC Class 1 RFID tags. They are designed for integration with an external power supply and antenna to create complete reader units and are expected to enable a wide range of reader/programmer applications, including handheld, printer, material handling, and industrial products.
