Mobile Internet, The, Jan, 2005
Korea Telecom, SK Telecom, and Hanaro Telecom have won licenses to provide the wireless broadband, or WiBro, Internet service.
The Ministry of Information and Communications announced it picked three companies to provide the mobile Internet service. WiBro uses a 2.3GHz broadband frequency that enables Internet users to access the Internet while driving a car at up to 60km/h at a reasonable price.
The service charge is expected to range between $29 and $38 (W30,000-40,000)--cheap considering that it currently costs $175 to watch a movie using a mobile phone.
