Wavecom introduces CDMA 1xRTT WISMO Quik module - New Products - Brief Article

Mobile Internet, The, April, 2002

Wavecom SA, a developer of digital wireless standard modules (WISMO), announced the introduction of its first CDMA-based WISMO Quik module, the Q2338. Wavecom initiated its expansion into CDMA last November when it acquired Iconn Wireless, a US developer of CDMA-based wireless modules. Since then, a team of Wavecom engineers has been focused on developing CDMA modules that are identical in size and interface to the company's GSM/GPRS modules, so wireless developers can choose either standard for their products without any manufacturing adjustments or delays.

Wavecom's fully shielded and ready-to-use module enables voice and data capabilities for a variety of products, from personal communication devices (PCDs) and mobile computing to telemetry and automotive applications. The dual band CDMA module (800/1900 MHz) supports Qualcomm's latest CDMA 2000 1xRTT technology at packet data speeds up to 153 kbps, and is at the same time backward compatible with existing IS-95A CDMA networks.
