Uruguay's Ancel launches GSM technology

Mobile Internet, The, April, 2004

Ancel, the mobile operator of the Uruguayan government, launched its new GSM technology. The company strives to improve its quality of service, with applications for businesses, faster data transmission, wireless Internet access, more security, automatic international roaming, games, and multimedia services.

Ancel's GSM network is now available in the country's major cities, including Montevideo, Maldonado, and Colonia. Nationwide coverage is planned for August.
