Turkcell updates on national roaming - International News - Brief Article

Turkcell, a provider of mobile communications services, announced an update on the national roaming proposals in Turkey. On March 8, 2002, the Telecommunications Authority issued a regulation regarding the policies and procedures related to a national roaming agreement, which required the parties to reach a national roaming agreement within 30 days. Turkcell has obtained an injunction against the application of the regulation requiring it to agree on national roaming within 30 days. The company will also initiate an action against the regulation before ICC for international arbitration within the legal time period.

Turkcell had obtained an injunction against the solution proposed by the Telecom Board asking parties to reach an agreement by November 15, 2001. Turkcell had also filed an application for international arbitration before ICC on November 26, 2001.
