America Movil increases revenues 56 percent

One of the leading mobile operators in Latin America reported revenues of US$2.47 billion in the first quarter of the year, a 55.8 percent increased compared to the same period last year. Ebitda was also up 45.5 percent to US$867 million, while net profits improved 35.5 percent to close at US$373 million. The group of mobile operators controlled by America Movil added 2.9 million customers and now has 46.7 million across 9 countries. These include:

--CTI Movil (Argentina 1.65 million);

--Telecom Americas (Brazil 9.95 million);

--Comcel (Colombia 4, 1 million);

--Porta (Ecuador 1.7 million);

--CTE (El Salvador 279,000);

--Telgua (Guatemala 951.000);

--Telcel (Mexico 24.57 million),

--Enitel Movil (Nicaragua 135,000);

--Tracfone (USA 3.34 million).
