Qpass solidifies market leadership position in mobile commerce with historic milestones

Mobile Internet, The, July, 2005

Qpass, whose software powers the marketplace for digital media and services, announced two record-setting milestones. More than 260 million purchase transactions have been processed through the Qpass platform since service inception in 2001, representing over $600 million in transaction value.

Qpass software facilitates the purchase of premium content for mobile phone, VoIP, and Wi-Fi networks and has generated more revenue for mobile applications and content than any other premium services platform.

In addition, over just the past year, the number of purchase transactions processed through Qpass software has increased fivefold, growing from over 50 million cumulative purchase transactions as of the end of June 2004 to more than 260 million in July 2005.

Deployed with 16 mobile operators in North America and Europe, and integrated with 300 content providers and aggregators, Qpass's software manages hundreds of thousands of mobile content applications and services worldwide across any network or wireless device. Typical purchases include ringtones, mobile games, wallpaper, mobile music, and video, along with alerting services and software applications for the mobile enterprise.

"These milestones are significant not only for Qpass but for the mobile industry at large because they point to how the market for mobile content and services has evolved and grown," said Chase Franklin, CEO of Qpass.

"With the tremendous momentum behind mobile data today, having an end-to-end mobile commerce solution that can grow to meet demand is paramount to our customers' success. This is a strong validation of our software's proven ability to effectively scale in order to accommodate the needs of our customers and partners as they expand their businesses."

"Qpass holds a unique leadership position in the market today and one that becomes increasingly valuable to carriers and content providers as the mobile data arena continues with its explosive growth," said Paul Hughes, Director, Billing and Payment Application Strategies, of the Yankee Group. "Their ability to support mobile transactions across the entire purchasing process, including both software licensing and managed services models, sets them apart from the competition."
