Cingular places Wireless travel call

Mobile Internet, The, Sept, 2004

Cingular Wireless has enlisted the help of several content providers to deliver a suite of travel applications to its wireless services offering. The carrier has teamed with Vindigo, Tele Atlas, Digital Cyclone and Handango to give its customers access to traffic reports, weather updates, maps and directions, and expense tracking.

Mobile MapQuest by Vindigo provides door-to-door driving directions, interactive color maps and reverse directions.

Tele Atlas Traffic delivers real-time information on traffic speeds and estimated travel times for major U.S. routes.

Cingular is offering My-Cast by Digital Cyclone to deliver weather information, including 12-hour and 7-day forecasts and satellite imagery, as well as local and regional weather maps.

For customers who need to track expenses while on the road, Cingular has turned to Handango's personal productivity applications, including Expense, Mileage, and Mobile Checkbook.
