Mobile Internet, The, Sept, 2004
Airo Wireless Inc., a provider of GPS-enabled mobile location solutions, announced that they have assisted Clear Technologies in the integration of an Emergency On-board Communications solution for Coach USA LLC's (CUSA) ground transportation vehicles throughout the United States.
The new GPS (Global Positioning System) technology provides highly accurate location data and will enable tracking of CUSA's 1,500 passenger buses for emergency services if needed. The Benefon Trackbox provided by Airo Wireless works in conjunction with Beta Trac asset monitoring software, Criticom International's central station alarm monitoring and emergency response services, and T-Mobile's wireless communications service, in order to provide increased security for CUSA's drivers and passengers.

The Benefon devices installed in each bus allow drivers to talk with dispatchers and to send emergency text messages with the location coordinates of the bus to the CUSA's dispatch facilities and/or the Criticom International emergency services central station monitoring facility.
Airo Wireless of Georgia worked with Texas-based Clear Technologies to coordinate the technologies of Benefon Oyj of Finland, Beta Trac of South Africa, and T-Mobile USA to implement this solution for CUSA to ensure greater security.
