Broward County Looking For Developers Of Affordable, Single Family Homes

The Broward County Department of Urban Planning and Redevelopment is looking for qualified contractors to build single-family detached homes in the Central County Area.

Qualified developers will be placed on a list and will be eligible to submit proposals on bundled properties of up to twenty platted, buildable lots within the Central County Area neighborhoods using Request for Proposals. RFPs will vary based upon the needs of the specific neighborhood in which the bundled properties are located, and may contain different criteria for successful selection. The Home Construction Program will be implemented in phases and the duration of this program will be three years with two possible one-year extensions. For more information contact Brandon Biederman at BASF.

Broward County Hires "Housing Czar" To Address Affordable Housing Issues

Broward County has approved the hiring of a "housing czar," a position that will expand and oversee affordable housing programs in Broward County. The complex issue of affordable housing has been moved to the top of the county's priority goals, and this newly created position will report directly to the county administrator. Joseph Kocy has accepted this newly created position. Mr. Kocy will also be part of the County's coordinated approach to the redevelopment process, and will work toward dispelling the myths related to affordable housing. BASF plans to host a meeting with Mr. Kocy. If you are interested in participating please contact BASF staff or look for an invitation in the near future.
