BASF partners with Channel 10
South Florida CEO, Dec, 2004
WPLG-Channel 10 investigative reporter Jilda Unruh turned to the expertise of the Builders Association of South Florida (BASF) while doing a two-part feature on unfair business practices. Air conditioning and roofing repairs were among the topics she reported on and she asked members of the BASF to provide honest estimates on repairs and their costs.
"We were more than happy to assist Channel 10 in getting proper information out to the community," says Toni Pacelli-Hinkley, BASF's executive vice president. "We encourage consumers to follow our recommendations on selecting companies, whether for a/c, roofing or any house repair or remodeling work."

The BASF recommends the following tips on hiring a contractor:
* Make sure you use only licensed and insured contractors
* Make sure their trucks are marked with their contractor ID number
* Always get three estimates
* Contact the Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation or Better Business Bureau to check out any complaints against them

* Ask them for references from satisfied customers
Special thanks to Javier Estrada of LPR Builders, Frank Palen of Xelor Air Conditioning and Marcial Rodriguez of Florida Roof Tech for participating on camera in these feature segments and providing valuable insight on the repair and remodeling process.
