This issue's member spotlight is an individual who many have come to know and respect for his commitment to both BASF and the South Florida community. Bernie Navarro is president of HomeMortgage, the preferred lender for several new construction developments. Recently, HomeMortgage and TotalBank teamed up to form a strategic partnership that will provide South Florida homebuyers with unparalleled access to a wide-ranging selection of mortgage solutions. HomeMortgage currently has 45 employees, of which 35 are loan officers.

"I've been fortunate to meet some wonderful people through my involvement in BASF," says Navarro. "I know the friendships I've made will last a lifetime. And, my involvement has also brought me closer to the community and the industry I represent."
In 2003, Navarro received the Florida's BEST Platinum Award as Mortgage Lender of the Year. He has held numerous positions within the mortgage business, including working for Fortune 100 companies such as GMAC Mortgage and Citibank Mortgage. He is also very active in politics. In 1996, he was unanimously elected to the West Dade Community Council.
