Looks like contentious county relations and ongoing battles over everything from airport vendor contracts to a Miami-Dade County Airport Authority haven't worn out Angela Gittens' sense of humor. The Miami-Dade Aviation Department director was Grand Marshal at Coconut Grove's annual King Mango Strut this past Dec.
29. The parade (in its 21st year), parodies they ear in Miami-Dade and international politics, and had a "Welcome to Flori-Duh" theme this year. Originally coaxed into joining the parade as a token "honest politician, Gittens smiled and waved as a gaggle of Martha Stewarts in jail-wear marched alongside her car. Although she wasn't in costume, Gittens was uncharacteristically casual, in black pants and a King Mango Strut t-shirt. As Gittens told reporters, "You'd better not take yourself too seriously if you're going to run an airport."
