Alterman Transport to shut down - Big Deals - Alterman Transport Lines - Brief Article

* Two hundred people will lose their jobs in Miami-Dade County when Opa-Locka-based Alterman Transport lines shuts its doors on February 3. The trucking company, which operates 14 terminals across the country -- seven of which are in Florida, with 900 employees total -- is liquidating its operations as a result of tough economic times for the industry.
Plans include the sale of its fleet of 600 trucks, along with other assets. The firm was founded in 1938 by Sidney Alterman.
