And then there were two - Publishing - chief executive officer - BridgeHouse Publishing - Brief Article

South Florida CEO, Feb, 2003 by J.P. Faber

* South Florida is hardly known as a book publishing powerhouse. Now, Miami Beach-based BridgeHouse Publishing, a division of design and marketing firm BridgeHouse, is making a run at the industry with children's books. Last month the firm released its second title "Vanessa and the Enchanted Painting." a follow on their first book.

"Vanessa and the Angel," also by artist/author Beatrice Rich. BridgeHouse president Amy Turkel (left) says the top challenge is distribution, with national bookstore chains dominated by major publishers. Instead. "We've been doing a very personal marketing effort." she says, to independent books stores, gift shops, museum stores, and so forth. "It's been very successful." Locally, the books are carried in such venues as the Wolfsonian and Books & Books. Turkel says her next goal is to publish "some interesting art-related books, maybe a pop-up 3-D." From there its on to cartoons, kids shows and animated movies.
